FITS OF DEPRESSION
MAN COMMITS SUICIDE. EFFECTS OF WAR SERVICE. (Per United Press Association.) Ruawai, December 17, A returned soldier, Walter Alfred Woodward, a single man, aged 34, committed suicide with a shotgun on his mother’s farm at Ruawai this morning. The deceased’s brother heard a shot fired and found the body, with the gun beside it, close to the cowshed. The evidence at the inquest showed tho deceased to have been suffering from depression from time to time since his return from the war and that his depressed condition during the past sly months had become worse.
A verdict was returned that the deceased committed suicide while in a state of unsound mind caused by depression following the effects of his war service.
