COURT RETURNS. • (From Our Correspondent.) The Court returns of the Mataura Magistrate’s Court for the quarter ended March 31 are as follows: Number of sittings presided over by Magistrate, 2; number of criminal sittings, 2; total amount sued for, £368 11/4; number of plaints entered, 21; number of judgment summonses issued, 14; number of warrants of committal issued, 1 ; number of summonses and other processes served by bailiff within one mile, 38; number of summonses served by bailiff outside one mile, 13; number of criminal cases, 4; civil fees paid, £22 6/-; criminal fees, £1; fines, £l. Euchre Party. The weekly euchre tournament being conducted by the Mataura Town Band in aid of its funds was held on Monday, when there was a fair attendance, some 30 taking part. At the conclusion of play Mesdames J. Hardy and A. J. Grant tied for the ladies’ first prize, and in the play-off Mrs Hardy was successful. The gentlemen’s prize was annexed by Mr W. Nixon and consolation prizes were won by Mrs J. F. Heslin and Mr R. English. The Mayoralty. Mr C. D. McConnell, the sitting Mayor of Mataura, is again going to contest the mayoralty.' Mokoia Golf Club. At the opening for the season of the Mokoia Golf Club there were some 15 visitors present and a good muster of members, the total number present being 53. The greens and fairways were in splendid order as the result of a working bee held recently. The president of the club (Mr J. A. Sinclair) welcomed the visitors and Mr D. Russell (vice-president of Mataura Club) replied on behalf of the visitors. Foursomes were then played and after the first nine holes afternoon tea was served. The foursomes were then continued and later in the afternoon a group photograph was taken by Dr Woodhouse. Mr Russell m thanking the Mokoia Club for the pleasant afternoon provided, extended an invitation to members to visit the Mataura green at any time. ______
