STRANDED ON ICEFLOE
RESCUER OF NOBILE.
AEROPLANE OVERTURNS. (Rec. 7.45 p.m.) London, June 26. Virgo Bay reports state that Lundborg, pilot of the aeroplane which rescued General Nobile, is himself stranded on an icefloe owing to the plane overturning when landing. The Swedish Government sent food supplies to the Italia’s crew. The search for Captain Amundsen is still unavailing.—Australian Press Association. RESCUE EXPEDITIONS. DESCENT BY PARACHUTE. (Rec. 12.10 a.m.) Stockholm, June 26. Arrangements are being made to despatch a Fokker and also de Haviland and Moth machines to rescue the Italia’s crew. The machines are specially fitted to land on small ice areas. It Is reported from Spitzbergen that a Swedish mechanic Is willing to make a descent by parachute on to the icefloe to assist Lundborg to repair his aeroplane. Lundborg asked for spare parts to be dropped by means of a parachute.—Australian Press Association—United Service-
