TELEGRAPHIC CHARGES

RATES FOR PRESS MESSAGES. RESOLUTIONS OF CONFERENCE. Paris, May 25. The sub-committee of the League of Nations has considered the resolutions from the conference of Press experts which met at Geneva in August, at which representatives of the postal administrations of the principal European countries attended. It was decided to recommend that in 1930 a telegraphic conference be held to establish that the category of urgent Press telegrams at treble the ordinary Press rate be treated exactly as an urgent private message. The committee considered the recommendation of the conference of Press experts covering the terminal charges operating in Australia and other countries and decided that while refraining from expressing any opinion on the domestic policy involved it would suggest that the Governments concerned consider the matter with a view to ascertaining whether any modifications of these charges were possible.—Australian Press Association—United Service.
