AMSTERDAM’S DILEMMA. (Rec 5.5. p.m.) Amsterdam, May 26. Following a report that the Queen will not open the Olympic Games, a sensation was caused by a report in the Telegraph that the Burgomaster will be away from the capital on a holiday during the main part of the programme. Significance lies in the fact that the Burgomaster is a strict Sabbatarian, in consequence of which Amsterdam is one of the few cities in Holland where public dances are forbidden on Sundays.—Amsterdam Press Association—United Service.
