FARM RELIEF BILL
AMERICAN MEASURE ADOPTION BY SENATE FAILS INTERESTING SITUATION " DEVELOPS (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Washington, May 26. The Senate failed to pass the McNaryHaugen Farm Relief Bill, which aims to aid the stabilization of the agricultural industries over President Coolidge’s veto. The measure, which was passed twice by Congress again fails to become law. The Senate voted 50 to 31, being four short of the necessary two-thirds. Most politicians believe that this action throws the farm relief question directly into the Republican National Convention with a possibility of a spectacular fight by the farm belt States to force the Convention to repudiate the President. It also directly involves the Presidential chances of Mr Hoover who supports Mr Coolidge, and of Messrs Dawes and Lowden, who supported the Bill.—Australian Press Association.
