INFLUENZA

SANITARY INSPECTOR’S REPORT. REASSURING STATEMENT. The following report was presented by the Sanitary Inspector at last night’s meeting of the council: — ‘1 beg to advise you that for the period ending July 27, nothing of note has been advised in the infectious diseases. ‘The position as to influenza remains the same. There are a number of cases of the mild type of influenza and colds prevailing, but up till the present no cases of pneumonic influenza have occurred in the borough and the general health as to infectious diseases is exceedingly low, and the position generally, is very satisfactory. “I pass on these few remarks, as at the present time a good deal of speculation is rife as to the present condition of influenza as it affects the Invercargill district.” INCREASE AT AUCKLAND. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, Aug. 3. Seventeen cases of pneumonic influenza have been reported in the Auckland district this month. There have been three deaths in the last 24 hours.
