FIGURES FOR JULY. AN INCREASE SHOWN. The following report from the Abattoir Manager (Mr C. W. Wilson) was received at last night’s meeting of the Council:— The following stock were slaughtered at the City Abattoir during the month of Julyj as compared with the corresponding period last year:— 1926 1925 Bullocks and Heifers .... 306 324 Cows 196 128 Maiden Ewes and Wethers . 1270 1121 Breeding Ewes 283 262 Pigs ... 13 12 Calves . 15 53 2083 1900 There were condemned: cattle, bullocks and heifers, 6; cows, 6; sheep, 2. The stock slaughtered during the month were prime, with a number of good quality cows. The stock are all in good condition owing Jo the very mild winter.
