ANGLING

YESTERDAY’S COMPETITION. WON BY DIPTON. The second Oreti River competition took place yesterday under the auspices of the Southland Anglers’ Club on the OporoLochiel waters of the Oreti River. The daj’ opened with a cold south-easterly wind and cold showers, which made the fish difcult to catch, and, considering the adverse conditions, the final weigh-in, reflects great credit on the ability of the participating anglers. •Following are the detailed results of the weigh-in for the competition:—

After the official weigh-in the visiting anglers were entertained by the Southland Club, and left for their return journey heartily reciprocating the goodfellowship and sportmanship that tIV popular competition entails. The next trial of skill eventuates on the waters adjacent to the Dipton township.
