REFRESHER COURSES
THE SOUTHLAND CLASSES. The Refresher Course for teachers continues in session for the second week at the Technical High School, Invercargill. The j-ounger teachers to the number of 95 are making very solid progress. 1116 subjects of instruction and instructors are:— Physical Instruction.—Mr Lewis, Miss V. Greig and Miss J. Hamilton. General Science.—Mr J. Garfield Anderson, M.Sc., and Mr Flannery. Agriculture.—Mr Mathews. Singing.—Miss M. A. Steele, M.A. Hj’giene.—Dr Collier. Geometric Drawing.—Mr Brown. Illustrative 83. Drawing.—Miss V. Greig. To these are to be added further work in Agricultural Science—Mr Malcolm; Brush Drawing—Mr Parker. The intermission of school work enables the teachers to give whole-hearted attention to their studies with commendable enthusiasm. The senior teachers are back in their schools and endeavouring in various ways to stimulate the pupils in each locality to home study. As it appears that most of the pupils are now tired of holidays there is every likelihood that even in the untoward circumstances progress will be recorded.
