TYPHOID OUTBREAK

CASES IN THE URUWERA. (Per United Press Association.) ROTORUA, January 21. There has been a serious outbreak of typhoid at Mangapohatu, in the Uruwera, where 12 cases have been reported, with three deaths. A doctor and two nurses are on the spot, and an additional doctor and three nurses leave Rotorua to-night. A camp, with hospital equipment, left early this morning. Mangapohatu is only accessible by horseback from Ruatahuna by a precipitous mountain route.
