NEW EYES FOR OLD.
(Sun Special). CHICAGO, September 10. Transplantation of the human eye has been brought within the range of possibilities, according to Dr Theodore Kopanyi, research student at the University of Chicago. He claims successful transplantation in experiments on animals. Dr Kopanyi, who formerly studied in Vienna, said that the operations were performed by ligating the veins and arteries of the eye and then cutting the optic nerve and severing the eye muscles. In the experiments from four to eight weeks brought about a complete restoration of sight.
