GRAIN SHORTAGE
SERIOUS POSITION IN RUSSIA. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and NJZ. Cable Association.) LONDON, August 24. Though Soviet sources of information de<ry the existence of famine and claim that Russia can export 1,000,000 tons of grain, the Daily Telegraph’s representative, just returned from Russia, declares that the grain shortage amounts to 4,000,000 tons. Heat destroyed the pastures, and cattle are dying in large numbers.
