ANOTHER SHOOT-UP
KANAKA RUNS AMOK. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) BRISBANE, February 16. A Kanaka, known locally as “Mad Jack,” appeared at the home of Mrs Daw and two sons in Pialba, who were entertaining a visitor. Jack fired a doublebarrelled shot gun through the open door narrowly missing the visitor. He then fired two more shots through the window, injuring Mrs Daw with splintered glass. One of her sons escaped from the house and informed the police who, after a chase, captured the Kanaka. The prisoner is regarded as mentally deficient.
