HEART SURGERY

STITCHES SAVE LIFE. (By Telegraph - Press Assn.—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, February 15. The Vienna correspondent of the Daily Express reports that Professor Eiselberg, lecturing before the Medical Society, said he had stitched the hearts of twenty-two patients suffering from heart injuries, usually regarded as fatal and ten were ultimately restored to health. One man aged twenty-three, after attempting suicide by stabbing himself, was rushed to the hospital, where his chest was opened, laying bare the heart, which had a stab half an inch deep. This was stitched and within six weeks the man resumed work.
