JUNKER PROTESTS
GERMAN AMBASSADORS. WRONG TYPE AND METHODS. (‘Times” Service.) LONDON, February 15. The Berlin correspondent of the Times says a sensational attack on President Ebert appears in the Nationalist paper Deutsche Tageszeltung, which alleges that Hon. Ebert was responsible for the instructions given to German diplomatic representatives abroad which were prejudical to the dignity of the nation and disturbed Germany’s foreign relations. As instances the newspaper quotes the flag incident at Washington on the occasion of Dr Wilson’s death and the appointment of Dr Landsberg, German Minister at Brussels, who is exchanging posts with the German Minister at Belgrade. The Tagezeitung says Dr Landsberg, who is a Socialist, has not been a success in Brussels. Why, therefore, should he be given another diplomatic post? Finally the paper says “While members of Mr Baldwin’s Government are not received at the German Embassy, Herr Sthamer, Ambassador in London, acting on instructions from the highest quarter in Berlin, now invites to the Embassy the whole Labour Party and hobnobs day in and day out with every sort of trade unionist.”
