SUPREME COURT

(Per United Press Association). WELLINGTON, July 18. In the Supreme Court to-day Ernest William McCardell, an officer of the Reparation Department, was sentenced to eighteen months on two charges of theft of moneys of the Department, and nineteen charges of forgery. Mr Justice Chapman described the offences as a systematic course of fraud. Henry George Smith, a young lad who was described as a dangerous criminal, was ordered to serve three years’ detention on charges of breaking, entering and theft.
