COAST EXHIBITION
PROVISION FOR ACCOMMODATION. (Per United Press Association). HOKITIKA, June 11. At a meeting of the guarantors of the British Intercolonial Exhibition to be held in Hokitika in December and January next, the executive were authorised to arrange for bedding accommodation on the hostel principle. Two large schools and other commodious buildings, are to be utilised and fitted up with comfortable accommodation under supervision of a matron and the necessary staff. The licensed victuallers at a meeting also indicated their intention of extending accommodation and it is proposed to increase the guarantee to not less than £3OOO to enable the exhibition committee to finance the hostel arrangements. It is fully expected that the proposals will meet the pressure for accommodation and ensure the complete success of the large undertaking. To-morrow a delegation from the executive visits northern towns on the Coast and also Nelson and Marlborough, to form local committees to arrange district exhibits. Several applications have been received for space including substantial provision for the Otago Manufacturers’ Association.
