POWER BOARDS

QUESTION OF THEIR JURISDICTION (Per United Press Association). WELLINGTON, June 11. Matters of considerable interest to local bodies, particularly with reference to Power Boards, and their spheres of jurisdiction, came before Mr Justice Chapman in the Supreme Court, when the Borough of Wanganui asked for a declaratory judgment under the Act of 1908, as to ascertaining the powers of the Wanganui-Rangi-tikei Electric Power Board, with reference to the town district of Gonville, the Town Board being named as defendants in the action. The questions involved the rights of the W’anganui Pother Board and the Gonville Town Board to supply, or receive light and power without consent of the plaintiff corporation, and what were the powers of the plaintiff corporation regarding the supply to such districts. Legal argument was heard and the case is unfinished.
