WOOL CONTRACTS

DETAILS TO BE PUBLISHED. (Special to the Times). WELLINGTON, May 5. Mr Massey has arranged to issue next week the official paper containing the wool contracts between the New Zealand Government and the woolgrowers on the one hand, and the Imperial Government on the other hand. The Farmers’ Union has been asking for the documents with a view to taking a legal opinion as to where the farmers stand in the matter of the commandeer price and the surplus profits held by the British authorities. The paper is a very bulky one. It contains the original contracts, amendments made in subsequent seasons, and a great mass of correspondence and reports. The publication of all the papers accumulated by the Imperial Supplies’ Department during the years covered by the contract would scarcely be possible, but the Prime Minister and officers of the Department have tried to put together all the essential documents so that the woolgrowers can see the position for themselves.
