The Commodities Commission’s report on the price of meat states that the high prices are not due to the retailers, and expresses the opinion that a reduction of prices would reduce the stock for home consumption. It suggests that the Government should legislate to prevent the indiscriminate slaughter of female stock. A Women’s Labour Council has been formed to serve women’s interests in the Labour movement. PERTH, July 14. The death is announced of Mr Charles McDowall, .State Labour member for Coolgardie, and a native of New Zealand. The West Australian State revenue was £860,830 (?), an increase of £46,383. The returns for the year were £5,356,768, leaving a deficit of £348,291, thus raising the accumulated deficit to £1,861,031.
