Committee stage of which proved much shorter than was anticipated) lias been disposed of, the business session has been considerably narrowed down. The one only remaining Bill as yet on the Order Paper is the War Peculations Bill, which contains a clause civing power to the Government to deal with the control of the liquor traffic. There is much speculation as to how much time the anticipated discussion on the question of early closing will occupy. Much, of course, defends upon the results of the efforts that are being made to arrive at a compromise. The Public Works Statement has yet to make its appearance, but this will be a less interesting document than usually in view of the fact that so little money is available for expenditure on public works. There will be the ordinary Washing f Up Bill, ami another Bill as yet »:•- j named dealing with various matters. # Provision for regulating house rents has 1 also been promised. The business of the House has been somewhat delayed by the absence of the Prime Minister this week, and owing to the same cause there will be no sitting on Monday next. It is anticipated that the session will close about the end of this month. ___ 1
