line. The Pirates forced the leather over ] the lino, and Ghlbraith scored a try. W. Hawks took the kick and made a very poor attempt, the ball only going a few yards. The Star kicked off at twenty; five and the ball was well returned by a Pirate back. Some give-arid-take play took place between the halfway flag and the Star's tveenty-five, and Borne made a markf Galbraitb, took the kick and sent" the ball over the bar. , No more scoring wae done in this spell, "th'o ball being close to the Star's lino when time was called. After changing goals the Pirates set the ball in motion ogsin. The forwards followed up tho kick off, and once more menaced the Sard go^l. Cuff, Timbs. Donaldson (2), Murphy (2), Jeukins, and A. Mcßobie hard to dear their Hoes, and succeeded in rushing the ball into their opponents twenty- five. Ga!braith, Montiplay, Ekeoateen, and MaepnerBOD, however, onco again carried the ball into the Star's domain,where it remainod for the greater part of the spell. 'Just before time was called the leather was worked into the middle of the ground, Morrison secured it, and ran right up to the Star's goal line, where ha was neatly collared by Hughes, but not before he passed to Porter, who carried the ball right behind the posts. Galbraith took the kick, and placed another goal to tbe credit of his side. Time was shortly af terwarda called, J with the ball about the half-way fUg. Cuff, Timbß, Murphy, and Djualdson played a good game at back, a'though the latter was rather careless in his panting. This player should try to kick out of touch more, as on Saturday he ondangered his goal several times by kick^ iug into the middle of the field. Among the forwardp, Jenkins, Donaldson, Murphy, and JABpray were the most conspicuous. For the Pirates Lillicrap, at full back, played with his usual judgment and coolness, while W. Hawke, G-allacker, Porter, Tapper, and Borne playod a good game, their passing and collaring being much Bupevior to that of their opponents. The all worked hard, tbe most coDßpicuoue being Galbraith, Mentiplay, BkeDsteen, Macpherson, and Smith. Messrs W. Stead and J. Harvey acted as umpires, while Mr W. Smith officiated as referee.
