As usual, all the Invercargiil team did not tqrn tip. and they had to p!ay a man short. H. Lea captained the Riverton team ; Russell doing similar duty for Irjverc^rgill. Tho River ton team was much the heavier of tho two, and in tightly picked scrums they generally made a lot of ground, but tho fast and loose play of their opponents proved to '03 the best, the bill for the most part of the t'rm beiog in the Riverton twenty-five. For tho home teirn Morgan, S-ock, llisw ', M >ff ut, Matbeeon. TbompsoD, S\ inonds, and Bro \- rick played a good forward gauiH, while at back, Burnt', Moon', MoOloskay, VV-ido, aad Howell, worked very hard, tho splendid play oE the three fist-named giving their opponents a lot of trouble. For RivertOD, Loe, Brown, ani Galding played a good game at back, while those most conspicuous in tha forwards ware Johnston, Murphy, Pitterson, Cuff, and a tew others whose names I could not obtain. Messrs R. Howell and Brodrick acted as umpires for Riverton and lovercarerill reppt'Oti^ely.
