INVERCARGILL PRODUCE NOTES.
Oats.— During the week there has been a fair amount of business passing, and sales of B grade have been made to Auckland and Western Australia at Is 6jd to Is 6fd f.0.b., sacks included. Prices to farmers have remained unchanged since last report, and Is to Is 2d on trucks is full market value, and this only for B grade. Lower grades are not enquired for. A grade is practically cleared out as far as the Bluff is concerned. The “ Simonside ” took 2,500 sacks ot this grade for Africa, and the price obtained netted Is 9d f.0.b., s.i. There is a good enquiry from Africa and the East, but buyers want B grade, and owing to their scarcity local merchants are not keen to sell any large quantity. At present prices it would undoubtedly pay farmers who hold A or B grade to risk the London market. Other produce during the week has been slow of sale, but prime samples of barley can be readily placed in the North Island. RYBGEASS. —There is still a strong, demand for this, but very little is offering There is not likely to be much about till spring threshing, and from report there does not seem as if-there will be much to come in even then. Values of seed from the
mill rule at from 2a 6d to 2s 9d on trucks at country sidings. As far as can be gathered local merchants have sufficient for their requirements for the coming season, but above this there is very little to spare. *
