CONCERT AT NORTH INVERCARGILL

The concert held in the meeting house, North Invercargill, on Wednesday, Sept. 9th, in aid of the building fund, proved a decided success. , The accommodation was taxed to the utmost, every seat being occupied. The items rendered gave every satisfaction, as was proved by the applause of the audience from time to time. The following took part : —Miss Ashton, Mrs Pedlar, Miss James, Miss Tomlins, and Miss A. Bath. The first-named sang a solo very tastefully, and was well received. Mrs Pedlar gave an auto harp selection, which was encored, the performer giving another selection later on, which was equally well received. The Misses James and Tomlins gave recitations, which were well rendered, while Miss Bath gave a solo very pleasingly. Mr A. Froggatt gave a solo with such good effect that he had to respond to an encore. The Messrs Fraser Bros, gave two duets on the violin, which were well received. Mr E. Bath also sang two solos, for which he was heartily applauded. The Salvation Army Brass Band played several selections in a highly creditable manner, and were heartily applauded for their efforts. Altogether the concert was a pronounced success, the fund benefitting to the extent of something like £3. Miss Hardy acted as accompanist.
