THE SOUTHLAND PATRIOTIC FUND. AT a meeting of the General Patriotic Fund Committee held in the Council Chambers on Thursday, 23rd inst., it was unanimously resolved that with the view to distribution of the balance of the Southland Patriotic Fund, steps be taken to procure information as to the returned troopers of Southland who h'ave been disabled by wounds, accident or disease, through the South African war, and also as to the claims of parents and relatives of the Southland soldiers who died or were killed in action through the campaign. Applications from such for financial assistance must be accompanied by certificates, with full particulars as to number, rank, name, contingent, place of enrolment, length of service, where wounded, and date of return to New Zealand, for the information of the Committee administering the Funds, will be received by the Hon. Treasurer, Mr Young, Town Clerk, addressed to the Municipal Offices, Invercargill, on or before Thursday, 20th November next. CHAS. S. LONGUET, Mayor of Invercargill, "Chairman.
