Shortly before Parliament rose Mr E. G-. Allen (Waikouaiti) asked the Minister for Agriculture it he would consider the advisability of establishing a number of model dairy farms where boys of working age from industrial schools, and also orphan and other unprotected boys of working age, could be taught to milk and acquire a general knowledge of dairyfarming, in order that their services would be available to the dairyfarmers of the colony F Mr Duncan (Minister of Lands) replied that he understood that the industrial school people taught the inmates of the institutions the usual farmwork, and he did not think there was at present room for model dairy farms for the purpose named.
