INVERCARGILL HORSE MARKET.

Messrs J. A. Mitchell and Co. report as follows : —We bad an entry of 51 horses forward on Saturday, and, although there was nothing specially good, several were really useful animals for farm work. Owing to the broken weather and the high price of feed people do not care to buy horses to keep them idle, and things were a shade easier than they have been for some time ; in fact, more horses than usual failed to find buyers, but, when the weather takes up and people can get on with their work, we anticipate there will be keen demand for all likely sorts. We sold useful draughts at £3O to £37 10s, aged do £lB to £26 ; hacks and light harness horses —1 upstanding harness horse brought £2l, ordinary £lO to £l3, small and light meet with very limited enquiry. Sound, young, upstanding light harness horses are exceedingly scarce, and meet ready sale.
