District News.
RIVERSDALE.
The weather for the last two weeks has been wet, cold and unseasonable, and consequently farm work is not being prosecuted with the lapidity most people would wish. There are still considerable areas not sown owing to the wet state of the land. A spell of dry weather would facilitate matters, and is very much needed. Taking every thing into consideration this has been a bad spring for the farmer.
The political atmosphere in our community seems to be of a very electrifying nature at present no less than three local candidates in the field to capture the Wakatipu seat, and all “ true liberals Let us hope that the best man will win the seat. I fear it will be a very tough job to remove the present member. The death of Mr John Frew, a wellknown resident of Riversdale, took place at Nelson on the 11th lust. His corpse was taken from Nelson and interred in the Riversdale Cemetery on Sunday last, the funeral cortege being very large, notwithstanding the inclement weather. Mr Frew was of a very cheery end kindlv disposition, with a keen sense of humour, and will be missed by many.
