INVERCARGILL HORSE MARKET.

Messrs J. A. Mitchell and Co. report having held their weekly sale in the Prince of Wales yards on Saturday, when they had a very large entry, about ninety horses coming forward. A fair proportion of these were young draughts, but owing to the recent spell of very rough weather, the demand was hardly what might have been expected at this season of the year. However, when the weather takes up, they anticipate keen enquiry for useful plough horses. On account Mr T. Mortimer they sold the trotters Honest Boy at £2l, Lady Yanclive £44, and Hot Yet at £43, Messrs Hawke, Kennedy and Kett being the purchasers respectively: also draughts at £36 to £44 for good young sorts ; medium, £2O to £3O; aged, £5 to £ls ; strong light harness horses, £ls to £25; ordinary, £9 to £l4 ; light and weedy, £3 to £7.
