LUMSDEN.
A double wedding took place at Centre Hill Station on Thursday, 22nd, when the Rev. Mr Lymburn united in marriage two daughters of Mr Robert Gray —Miss A. Gray, to Mr W. McCurdy, of the Taieri ; and Miss M. B. Gray, to Mr J. Fleming, of Long Bush. The bridesmaids were Miss L. Gray and Miss D. Gray. Messrs A. Gray and A. McCurdy acted as best men. A very happy day was brought to a close by the couples starting on a twenty mile drive to catch the train. Rice and old shoes were in abundance, and useful and ornamental gifts came in on a scale that showed the esteem in which Mr and Mrs Gray’s ''daughters are held. The Royal Mail Hotel is now in course of construction, and {promises to. be a great improvement on the building destroyed. ,
While Lumsden has the name of being the most healthy up-country township, I have to report several serious cases of colds and influenza. One child, after several attacks, developed chest complications, and died.
