RIMU.

A delightful entertainment! Such was the verdict of the audience which crowded the hall on Friday evening, 2nd inst., when the annual concert in aid of the school picnic fund was held under the presidency of Mr Hopkins, who prefaced a programme of 20 items with a short and appropriate address. Very pleasing features of the evening’s enjoyment were the action songs, rounds, dialogues, dumb-bell exercises, and marching to music of the pupils, the manner in .which the younsters acquitted themselves betraying careful training, and a quick apprehension on the part of the taught. The acting in the dialogues was surprisingly good, and greatly admired. The programme, which opened with the N.Z. National Anthem, and closed with “ Grod save the Queen,” included, in addition to the items already mentioned, recitations by Miss A, Meldrum, Mr Gazzard, and D. Faulkner, “ Soldiers of the Queen ” was very well sung by the senior scholars, and the members of the infant classes also displayed great aptitude in their respective parts. Mias L. G-azzard played the accompaniments. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded the teachers, Mr Gazzard and M’as Todd.
