MABEL.

We have had splendid weather, but a severe frost on Monday night cut down some of the early potatoes. Farmers are busy getting the turnip ground ready, and a few have small patches of Swedes in. Mr McNab addressed the Mabel electors last Thursday evening, 9th inst. He was very cordially received, was frequently applauded, and at the close was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address and of confidence in him as our representative, on the motion of Messrs J. Hunt and J. Fisher.

Mr Buckingham, temperance lecturer, has paid ns another visit, and delivered a very good address. Mr Murray has a singing class in full swing, and it is making good progress.
