RIVERTON NOTES.
The Riverton Rifles’ champion belt was won this year by Sergt. Wilson, with a score of 54 —three ranges, five shots at each, with optional sighter. The competition for Messrs Hallenstein Bros, cup resulted in a win for Vol. A. Mirrielees. The conditions were, five shots at each of three ranges, and two best scores of three shootings to count. The winner’s scores were 48 and 61, handicap 10, total 119.
The parades of the Riverton Rifles are devoted principally to bayonet exercise and squad drill just now, and some good and useful work is being put in.
