Y. R. NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. IN connection with Christmas and .New Year Holidays, excursion tickets will be issued BETWEEN ALL STATIONS on the Hurunui - Bluff Section from 20th December, 1897, to 4th January, 1898 (inclusive), all available for return up to and including Ist February, 1898. The excursion fare will be 2d per mile first-class and Id per mile second-class, minimum 4s and 2s respectively (mileage counted one way only). Journey must be commenced on the day the ticket is taken out and may be broken after travelling 25 miles. The time for which these tickets are available may be extended to make them available for return for a further period of two weeks on payment of the difference in value between an ordinary single ticket and half the excursion fare. Passengers desiring an extension of time must apply before the expiration of the excursion ticket at the station to which it was originally issued. On 25th and 27th December, 1897, and Ist and 3rd January, 1898, the Goods shed at Invercargill will be closed. BY OBDER. V. R. NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. IN connection with the Southland A and P. Show Excursion Tickets at 2d per mile first and Id per mile second-class (minimum 4s and 2s respectively), mileage counted one way only, will be issued to Invercargill from Heriot, Conical Hills and intermediate stations, Lintley, Croydon and intermediate stations, Kingston, Lowther and intermediate, including Mossburn Branch, on 13th and 14th December, and from all other stations south of aud including Clifton on 14th and 15th December, available for return up to and including Monday, 20th December, 1897. On 15tb December excursion tickets at 2s 6d first and Is fid second-class will be issued from Bluff, Ocean Beach, and Green Hills to Invercargill and Clyde street available for return on day of issue only. On Wednesday, 15th December, the ordinary 4.15 p m. train to Clinton and 425 p m. to Lumsden will not leave Invercargill till 550 p.m. and 6.10 pm. respectively. The ordinary 4 p.m. train to Orepuki will not leave Invercargill till 5.55 p.m., connecting at Thornbury with train to Nightcaps, and the ordinary 5.0 p m. train Riverton to Nightcaps, will not leave till 7 opm. connecting at Thornbury with train from Invercargill. The ordinary 5 0 p.m. train for Bluff will not leave Invercargill till 5 20 p.m., returning leaving Bluff at 6 20 p.m. The ordinary Seaward Bush Branch timetable will be suspended and instead special trains, stopping where required, will leave Invercargill for Gorge Road at 6.30 a.m. and 6 5 p.m., returning leaving Gorge Road at 8.20 a.m. and 7.45 p.m. For further particulars see posters at stations.
