The Federal Conference inserted a clause enabling the Federal Parliament to grant financial assistance to any State upon such terras as they might think fit. This provision is limited to ten years Mr Dickson objected to the provision that the state elect Senators as a whole, and the Conference agreed to allow Queensland to elect as they thought fit. THE TICK PEST. Perth, February 3. Dalgety and Co. state that owing to the want of proper regulation in regard to the ticks, the English directors have advised them to call up the advances made on cattle stations. Should the pest spread to the sheep the whole of the station advances made in the colony will be withdrawn. *
