The Nationalists are assisting the dockers in Ireland in blocking vessels carrying material for the construction of relief railways in the distressed districts.

The Union leaders are puzzled at the Australians returning the £SOO, which was cabled as a loan at the termination of the strike. They are now desirous that the colonies should accept the sum as a gift to relieve distress among the strikers. Mr Fitzgerald, delegate from Australia, has deparlad for the provinces in order to raise funds to help distressed families.

INVERCARGILL, Nov. 26.
Since Ist September, when the wharf labourers at the Bluff struck work, the Union Company have paid £I2OO to the free labourers for work done; while the closing of the West Coast ond Newcastle mines caused the company to purchase 5500 tons of Southland brown coal, the railway freight on which to port was a little short of £2OOO.
