WAI-ITI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

An ordinary meeting was held in the schoolroom last evening. Present— Messrs J. Ogilvie (Chairman), D. Fyfe, A. Hawkins, S. Tasker, and J. Hole. Correspondence was read :

From Captain Sutter enclosing a cheque for one guinea towards the prize fund.

From the Board of Education re receiving deputations re the Committees accounts, asking that they be forwarded to the Board for auditing by January 18, 1884, and enclosing report on the pupil teachers’ examinations. Proposed by Mr D. Fyfe and carried unanimously'—“That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Captain Sutter for his donation; the Chairman to write to him to that effect.

The Master’s report was read for the month ending Nov. 30, and showed : Number on roll—Boys, 41; girls, 44 ; total, 85. Average daily attendance — Boys, 35 ; girls, 30 ; total, 65. Highest number present—Boys, 39 ; girls, 31 ; total, 70. Proposed by Mr J. Hole, seconded by Mr D. Fyfe, and carried, that the school close on Friday, 14th December, to ro-open on the fourth Monday in January, 1884. A discussion arose regarding the children’s treat and prizes, and it was resolved to invite the master to attend. Several plans were proposed, and it was finally resolved to meet on Monday evening, 10th inst., the Master in the meanwhile to solicit by circular, contributions from parents and friends towards the prize and treat fund.
