CIVILISATION’S VENEER.
COLONEL WARD’S WARNING. Loudon, March 8 Colonel John Word, M.P., at a luncheon in the city, warned those present against over-confidence in human society, which was covered by a very thin veneer. Two hundred and fifty determined men destroyed it in Russia,. and he believed that: 5000 reliable men could grab the nor re centre of Britain,; making such a scar in history as would take years to obliterate.
