A. debate on -war aims arose in the House of Commons upon flic third reading of the Consolidated Fund Bill. Mr Balfour said he considered the ■statements regarding war policy made by President Wilson, and the various leaders in Britain were absolutely identical in spirit. Ho believed that in the whole world's history there were no more powerful Btatc documostts than the statements of President Wilson. Both Mr. Asquith and' Mr Lloyd -George had stated our policy on the broadest lines, in the most explicit terms and the clearest manner. Our alms were not selfish but wo were seeking a peace which would last, arid uuder whose shelter both small and great nations might develop according to their ■ own national ideals.
