At the Supreme Court to-day jdugmout was given in the appeal of the executors of tho >. late James Paul’s estate against the assessment of Commissioner of Taxes on the goodwill of the brewery in the estate, which was put at £GOOO. The appeal was dismissed witii 21 guineas costs.
Palmerston N„ July 8. The police raided Chinese promises in town on Saturday night Jn search of opium smokers, but only one Celestial was caught. His outfit, including opium, pipe and the usual paraphernalia, was soiled and delinquent will appear before court in tire ordinary course.
