BASKETBALL
PUTARURU ASSOCIATION Opening Day Further practice games were played by members of the Putaruru Basketball Club on Saturday at the school courts. Three teams were selected to play for - the club in the knockout tournament to be held' on Saturday, when the Putamru Basketball Association commences its season. The teams are as follows: Gold; Goalers, Mrs Richards, M. Hooper, N. Hunt; centres, D. Bent, A. Ellis, J. Clothier; defence, D. Jones, I. Jones, L. Lopdell. Red: Goalers, M. Brown, Mrs Inman, M. Tomalin; centres, E. Finch, Mrs Brunton, D. Vose; defence, E. Drummond, M. Dalton, K. Spain, Blue: Goalers, J. Rogers, E. Orsulich, M. Appelgren; centres, A. Lammas, H. Daniels, H. Rutledge; defence, B. Ranger, D. Freeman, Marion. Appelgren. Emergencies: S, Radd, S. Penwarden, A. Galvan, S. Bread. : Any player unable to take part is asked to notify the secretary, Miss

Members are also to bring a cup, and must be present by 1.45 pun., otherwise games will bs defaulted First Round Draw The first round draw for the knockout competition is as follows: Tokoroa A v. Putaruru Gold; Putaruru Red v. School B. Intermediate A v. Putaruru Blue; Tokoroa B v. Intermediate B; Te Whetu v. School A. The firSt round will commence sharp at 1.45 p.m.
