The following are the January butterfat averages of the Morrinsville, Matamata and Putaruru district groups of the New Zealand Herd-testing Association, the figures in parentheses donating the size of the herds quoted:— Ngarua.—B74 cows, 4.3 test, 35.451 b fat; highest herd 42.71 b (77), lowest 25.651 b (42); best cow 77.81 b, worst 8.381 b. Putaruru.—l34s cows, 3.9 test, 28.991 b fat; highest herd 36.41 b (31), lowest 19.881 b (39); best cow 83.521 b, worst 6.451 b. Patetonga.—ls2o cows, 4.2 test, 31.791 b fat; highest herd 40.11 b (55), lowest 23.971 b (50) ; best cow 74.461 b, worst 8.51 b. Tirau.—l424 cows, 4 test, 32.331 b; highest herd 46.781 b (50), lowest 21.351 b (56); best cow 67.51 b, worst 5.551 b. Waitoa. 34.511 b fat; highest herd 42.671 b (23), lowest 27.921 b (26); best cow 73.261 b, worst 4.591 b. Morrinsville.—l2B4 cows, 4.2 test, | 34.451 b; highest herd 49.151 b (33), lowgst 28,141 b (92); best cow 75.91 b, Ivorst 5.521 b. ’•‘•l'i l <•«* Tauhei-Tahuna. —1169 cows, 4.1 test, 33.091 b fat; highest herd 42.731 b (23), lowest 25.161 b (62); best cow 85.471 b, worst 6.751 b. The association average for 57,429 1 cows tested was 7771 b milk, 4.1 test, 32.51 b fat. The highest herd average for the month was 49.151 b (33 cows) in the Morrinsville grreup. The highest group average Was 38.951 b for the Manawaru group. The best cow (Bombay group) gave 108.31 b fat, two others (Waihi and Waitakaruru groups) being credited with over 1001 b fat during the 30-day period.
