At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce on Friday, a resolution was unanimously carried protesting against the diversion of the North Island railway million loan to general purposes. Messrs Grey, Peacock, Buckland, 1 hompson, Moss, Hobbs, and Fraser were present, and repudiated any intention on the part of Parliament to interfere with the trunk line million loan. Pearce, a blacksmith at Newmarket, claims the Derwentwater estate through Lis wife, who is grand daughter of the former claimant.
