The financial result of the test cricket match at .Wellington with the Englishman has been, improved by Sir Julien Calm’s generosity. He was Unable to remain at Wellington for the one day’s play yesterday, but before leaving he intimated that he would make a gift of £IOO to the cricket authorities to recompense them in some measure for the financial loss suffered by the unavoidable curtailment of the playing time. Cricket officials are keenly appreciative of this further generosity on the part of Sir Julien Cahn, who, as has been pointed out previously, is paying the expenses of his team to and lrom New 1 Zealand. The actual tour through New Zealand was the New Zealand Cricket Council’s onty Concern in the matter of financing the visit.
