ECZEMA IN COWS

WAIKATO CURE CLAIMED

A cure for eczema in cows was claimed by Walter Milicich, a sharemilker, of . Hamilton, when giving evidence in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton. The prescription was not divulged, but Milicich said he had found a lotion which he rubbed on the caw’s quarters. It cured the disease and enabled milking of the cows. throughout the period of ailment, which thus hastened recovery.

Milicich said the usual practice was to dry off eczema affected cows, but then there was always a doubt as to how the quarters would be when the cows came into milk again. Under his method, the cows were milked and treated with the lotion three times a day, and within six weeks the eczema would be cured. He had 40 affected cows, eight being bad cases. All were cured and not one quarter was lost in the whole herd ■
