SPLENDID FIRST DRAFT
1050 NICKS HEAD LAMBS DOWNS AND LEICESTER^ Despite the unfavourable conditions during the early parf of the season for sheep and lambs, Mr. R. W. Coop’s Nick’s Head station has been able to send away a large number in his first draft of the season. Altogether 1050 liambs were drafted for the freezing works this week. The number of lambs on the property this season is smaller than last, but the percentage in the first draft is well up to the average. The Lambs were light this year, but nearly all went through as first grade. The average weight was between 3011 b and 311 b. This year Border Leicester rams were used for the first time in the flock. In the past Mr. Coop has relied uptm the Southdown ram and the Romney ewe, but this year a few Border Leicesters were used to supplement the Southdowns.
