TYRE-CHANGING MISHAP AXLE STRIKES TEMPLE (Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, this day. When a grader tyre, which he was changing at Rotowaro yesterday, burst, serious head injuries were received by Alfred McMahon, aged 45, a married man, employed by the Raglan County Council as a truck driver. It is understood that McMahon was prising the rim off the tyre with an axe when the tube burst and the axe Hew up, striking him across the temple, opening up a bad wound. His condition is very serious.
