A message from Fort Frances, Ontario, states that 1' lives were claimed by a forest fire which swept homesteads over an area 50 miles wide. The remains of two women and nine children were found by the roadside. The mothers had heroically covered the infants with their bodies in a vain attempt to save them as the flames swept over them after they had fled from their homes in an attempt to reach a lake.
